Our Lifetime Queens- Kendall, Mackenzie and Tirzah would like you to know a little bit more about our symbol, the Daisy:

The daisy, which represents the challenges of spina bifida and hydrocephalus:
The heart of the flower represents the brain, which in the case of persons living with spina bifida is often affected by hydrocephalus (the pooling of fluid on the brain, which often requires a shunt for correction). The daisy's petals are cloven, and represent the various lesions caused by spina bifida and hydrocephalus.
The daisy's leaf and stem are irregular, and depict the unusual form of the spinal cord and backbone of a person born with spina bifida.
The beauty of the flower reflects the beauty of people with spina bifida and hydrocephalus who, in spite of their challenges, live happy and productive lives.
PPW is READY email Beautiful_Miracles@yahoo.com!!
February 20,2010 at the Hilton Houston Southwest. We hope you will join us for this inspiring and FUN pageant!

We plan on doing other pageants to raise awareness. Right now we are focusing on SB awareness because even though it the #1 birth defect world wide it is astonishing how many people dont have any idea of what it is. There is so much emphasis on other disorders but we are making it our mission to let others know about SB. These kids suffer on so many levels, most are in wheelchairs, most have shunts in their heads, many miss lots of school do to hospital stays..it is a cruel defect that effects thier entire body! But i really want to expand after we do this one. The Houston SB assoc. tries to send any SB child that applies for a scholarship to the camp in Burton Tx . We try to send them free of charge. Every child costs about 650.00 because they have to have a buddy to help in and out of wheel chair etc all week to do all activities. There are nurses on staff 24/7 to help with personal needs as well. It gets so costly. The SB assoc..Houston gulf coast tries to send about 30 a summer. its wonderful. sometimes its the only week the kids can feel normal all yr..being around other kids that deal with the same day to day issues.
Your support and help means so much to not only us, but to so many others whose lives have been touched by SB.

So please know from the bottom of our hearts..we will apppreciate all your support!!!!!
